free antivirus for windows xp/
Okay im only 14 so im not the best computer builder, but I thought of taking up a new challenge, I already have my case and hard drive, all ordered from the same place.
.

.

Now the question is, will the following items all work when put together, I already have an XP OS ready. And a spare DVD drive. And yes I understand how to fit them together :D

Nerosis,

Everything should work together fine. Your choice of motherboard supports all the components you have listed (SATA hard drive, Socket AM2 processor, DDR2 RAM, SATA hard drive, PCI Express Video Card). You didn't mention what type of connection your DVD drive was but I would imagine it would be SATA or PATA (40 PIN) and your motherboard has connections for that as well. Both your case and motherboard are ATX form factor so your motherboard will fit fine. It looks like your video card is capable of being powered by your motherboard but its hard to tell from the pictures/specs on your link. A friend of mine has an 8600GT that doesn't require external power but I believe his is 256MB. Most likely, you will be fine.

However, if your video card does require external power, the power supply thats included clearly states "PSU Does NOT include PCI-E rails" so there is a possibility that you may need to purchase a different power supply. Thats not always a bad idea anyway since the power supplies included with cases are often poorly made.

Overall, the computer looks like it will handle most of what you throw at it. I wouldn't expect it to run absolutely every game on highest settings, however. What games/applications are you looking to use?

Wow, thanks a lot and sounds all good to me, thanks a lot

I was thinking about Guild Wars and GTA San Andreas, maybe Flight Simulator X, Call of duty, Crysis and Sims 2. Also maybe more games that come out, such as Guild Wars 2.

As for applications, Photoshop, Mozilla and MSN are pretty much all I will be using :), Maybe occasionaly other ones.

I went for the dual core so I can run my antivirus and startup on one core and an entire core for my games
