Why is it that the TV's will not support PC inputs through these ports? I have just purchased two from this series the 40R74 and the 32R72, I am more than happy with all aspects of the image apart from I was expecting to be able to use digital connection to the TV from my Mac for better quality video. .
.
If I am wrong in anyway or if there is not too much difference between the average DVI connection and the standard VGA inputs then please correct me.
Also does anyone have a decent set of equalizer settings to stop the poor quality sound vibrations that occur on the lower frequencies, I am in the future going to buy a decent sound system but for now it would be good to actually class the on board speakers as reasonable. ------------ Connecting your PC via VGA should give you excellent pic quality - when I connected mine it was really good. HD playback was better via the PC with VGA than my 360 with component!
My graphics card is a few years old now Ati Radeon 9000 pro but the quality was very crisp!
You can get dvi > vga converters and as far as I remb, macs come with them anyway? ------------ Connecting your PC via VGA should give you excellent pic quality - when I connected mine it was really good. HD playback was better via the PC with VGA than my 360 with component!

Ye I am using the converter atm, my understanding was that VGA was analogue hence the DVI would have given a better quality image. As I said the picture is very good via VGA its just that I was assuming that DVI connectivity would have been possible via the HDMI port.
My Graphics in the machines are ATi Radeon 9700 pro in the mac and X600 in the PC. No problem PC side although the video quality does leave me quite 'whelmed' for want of a better word. ------------ Yes VGA is analogue, but to be honest VGA is actually quite good - I doubt anyone could notice the difference between the two to be honest :)
So long as the graphics card is set up properly for that res it will be quite awesome :) I was orignally getting 'fuzzy' text and had to change the sync settings on my graphics card - after that it was spot on, much better than my CRT monitor (which has excellent dot pitch spec).
Keep the HDMI free for PS3/Blu Ray :D
