free screensavers for windows xp/ What's going on when files from your anti-virus program and your anti-spyware program turn up in other areas like in My Documents and the trash bin? I know I didn't put them there! Oh, yes! I remember one other thing. My firewall was turned off. And no one else has access to my computer. I didn't do that either, unless of course, I turn into Mr.Hyde on occasion and mess with my own computer. Weird! .
Have you run any AV or anti spyware scans? Malware can, and does, turn off security programmes, firewalls etc. ------------
Want a bet that no one has had access to your computer with the firewall turned off?

I checked all the programs listed on my computer and I turned up one that shouldn't be there--Wild Tangent Web Driver. I understand according to the Spywarewarrior website that it's optional to remove that program. Can anyone tell me what's makes that one bad?
I'm going to download Ad-Aware. I use that program on my old computer. I understand that I don't have enough protection with Norton Anti-Virus and Spysweeper on my new computer. The techs working for the company where I bought my latest computer said it was enough. They certainly aren't helping anyone. A tech came to my house to update my anti-virus and anti-spyware and two days later my computer wouldn't work (and I hadn't even been on the net with it). The same tech came out again but couldn't find out the problem so he took it in to the other techs. I wasn't happy about the computer leaving my sight. My service contract is to repair in-house. I thought how do I know I can even trust what they're doing with the computer. When the tech brought it back it seemed alright but frankly I don't think it has worked quite as good since that point. From that point it has sometimes seemed a bit quirky. I'm not about to call them again unless I experience a serious problem and can't fix it myself. In fact, I'm considering simply taking it to the best known tech in the area and just pay out of pocket. I really don't trust these big stores and their tech departments. Am I probably right on this? ------------
WildTangent monitors your habits and reports data back to the programmes owners. Some people are happy with this, but I wouldn't have it on my machine.
AdAware is a good start - run a full scan and see if it finds anything.

I don't think I would go near those techs again - just my tuppence worth. ------------
@Glaswegian
I'm going to remove that WildTangent. I don't like nothing spying on me.
