samsung lcd tvs
Bought my TV in february. This week on 3 occasions, the lamp has gone off along with LCD signal and control. (I shone a lamp at it to see if there was any ghosting images but there appeared to be none.) The tuner and sound continue as normal. .
.
Air temp has been 27 here for two weeks recently but well within operatiing tolerances (book says 40 degrees C max) it has also been this hot earlier this year with no probs.
Anyone else had any similar issues? It appears to be fine at the moment and is actually convecting more heat than it was earlier when it went off.
Fortunately still under guarantee but something to look out for. ------------ A ha its just done it again but some thoughtful "right I'm sending this back" tapping on the top seems to have resurrected it. ------------ No problems with my 32r41 Iainutron... hope you get yours sorted soon - let us know how you get on too :) ------------ Have ruled out physical temperature as it is now doing it from Cold in as little as 2 minutes.
Have contacted Albany Interactive. We will see what happens next. Send your consumer advice here! ------------ The man who collected it said the powersupply board had been pre ordered and turn round would not be long. They are obviously able to diagnose just from symptons.
The fact he mentioned powersupply, a similar problem to the burning Samsungs maybe?
I am fitting an Isolation switch to save me pulling the IEC lead in and out. Saves electricity too.
(footery - Scottish faffing, fannying about) ------------ Good idea re the isolation switch - How do they save electricty tho? ------------ Electronics on standby use a lot more power than you would think. Between 1.8 and 30 watts for your average amplifier for example.
Most homes with a lot of stuff can end up with about 50 watts of standby power. Over the year can work out to about 5% of of your electric bill!
My LCD is warm to the touch even when not being used, it just turns that power into heat.
Cheap tellys and stuff are one of the reasons your energy prices have risen too. ------------ I think I'm going to switch them off at the mains every night now! I never use the timer on the video anyway :D
Wonder if I'll lose my settings tho.. ------------ You shouldnt lose your settings unless you leave it for about 5 years!
Update on repair
After soak testing for a week DSC Solutions Clydebank can find nothing wrong!
