Hi guys, Does anyone know how to get Windows Live Messenger installed without the contact book integration or the "windows live hotmail" integration in messaging, as these are in my eyes superfluous and intrusive! I realise that it installs these components first as a dependency, but removing this stops the app from working. Anyone have any solutions/ideas? - Javawag

Yeah, I uninstalled as that really annoyed me. All I wanted was the IM app. Have you tried eBuddy? It's not a bad app, and integrates several other IM protocols. Failing that, the chat functionality on Fring is bearable.
------------

Same here!! I'm using eBuddy at the moment and that's pretty good, I just don't like not being able to view the conversation when you're writing a message, and the lack of file transfer support and display picture support. Fring is good, but I always end up accidentally msn voice calling people! - Javawag

i like implus. even shows a little keyboard icon if the other person is typing.
------------

get slick.
------------

IM plus I've never managed to find a link to and assumed it was therefore not free! Lol... errm just tried Slick also, that seems very good although I don't see the option to change screen name, and also changing options takes ages, for example, changing the number of weeks to save chat logs takes about 5 seconds to register I've pressed a button to change it (if that makes any sense?) and also sending and receiving messages is delayed by a similar length of time. Maybe it's something to do with it being on my memory card and not phone memory? - Javawag
------------

no problem here. messages are not delayed. what i like about slick is that it gives a notification so you don't have to go back to check for new messages or who signed in/off. with IM , what i like about it is you don't have to set your status for every account. it will connect and put your status where you left off.
------------

I'll try installing Slick to my phone memory later, it does seem like a very good app. Have you got a link for IM ? - Javawag
------------

IM All-in-One Mobile Messenger: AIM/iChat, MSN/Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, ICQ, Jabber, Google Talk :: S60 v.3 :: Products but like you mentioned, its not free. you could try it fro 7 days however
------------

OK, I may try that for 7 days then . However, I've now installed Slick to my Phone Memory and it works, no trouble, no delays. Odd huh? Still, at least it's working! - Javawag
