nokia n82 for sale
Hi there,
I am new around here so please accept my apologies if this has been discussed before. I have done a bit of a search around and can't find this exact problem. .
My new N82 is great but ...
I am very frustrated by problems with getting the caller ID of incoming calls and text messages resolved to contacts in my address book. Here is the story to date.
I am on the Vodafone NZ network. I have noticed that when calls arrive on my phone, the calling parties number arrives in the format 021 xxxxxx. However, when text messages arrive on my phone the numbers come in the format 6421 xxxxxxx.
Now, because I travel overseas a lot I have all of my contacts stored in the format 6421 xxxxxx.
When I get incoming text messages, because the incoming number format matches the number in the contact exactly the N82 has no problem matching them up and correctly displaying who the text message is from. However, for incoming calls it is a different story. The N82 mostly fails to correctly recognise that the incoming number from the operator in the format 021 123456 is the same as the number 6421 123456 stored in my contact. I say mostly fails because about 75% of my contact numbers seem to have this problem while a mysterious 25% seem to work.
What have I done to try and fix it?
1. I read in some other posts that this can be caused by duplication of contacts so I have painstakingly gone through my 350 contacts stored in my phone and removed all duplication.
2. I have checked that the contacts are not duplicated on my SIM card by removing ALL contacts from my SIM card.
3. I tried switching numbers that are failing to use the 021 123456 format in my contacts. Whilst this does solve the problem for incoming phone calls it has two drawbacks:
(a) it means that incoming text messages don't resolve correctly for that number
(b) it means that I cannot dial the contact whilst overseas.
Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated. I really like the N82 but this issue is a bit of a show stopper and if I can't get it fixed I think the phone will have to go back.
Many thanks in advance,
AB
P.S. None of this was a problem with my N80 which has just died ------------ Hi there,
I'm having the same problem on my phone.
Did you ever find a solution?
Regards,
Daire
