WiFi in U.S. with unlocked UIQ 3 phone
Author: web   Add date: 04/15/2008   Publishing date: 04/15/2008   Hits: 0
Can someone explain how WiFi works from a cell phone? I recently purchased an unlocked Sony Ericsson P1i for use on T-Mobile in the U.S. I currently do not pay for internet access through T-Mobile. I am wondering if my phone will connect to public (free) WiFi networks available in my metro area without signing a new contract?|||

well just try it! i'm also curious if it works with out a contract|||

I can't see why being on a contract or not, or paying for internet access or not, would have any effect on your ability to use WiFi networks.

WiFi networks have got nothing to do with the mobile operators so all you'd need to do is the usual WiFi network setup:

- scan for an access point
- select the correct encryption type (WEP, WPA), if any
- enter the key or password

Good luck
