Folks,
Please read this with an open mind, as this site proclaims love for Samsung, I do not want to offend, but sometimes the love of your life is not without fault and Samsung's customer service not being the best (actually the poorest I have dealt with) don't follow through and ensure commitments are being met. .
.
I purchased Samsung LE32R74BD a fantastic looking TV, curvatious , well modeled and highly spec?d, pedigree second to none. I took her home to meet the family and this is where it all went wrong. Watching Sky Sports1 Samsung began to speak and the reverb from the live commentary was mind blowing, my family stared at Samsung and asked her to speak through an interpreter, my home cinema system. We also noticed a "Ready Break" glow of over enhanced pixels (DNLI enhancement) when the camera panned out and the football players where moving in the distance. This was not slight distortion at 6ft, no the Samsung showed bad distortion at 14ft. The family were less than impressed and asked for the old JVC CRT to return and the Samsung was given the elbow. Shame she was such an impressive looker. Although disappointed I phoned Samsung customer service as I knew she could be the one of my dreams. I explained I had my Samsung for one day and the issues I encountered, they stated an engineer would call within 5 days. 6 days passed no call, my new Samsung alone in its unloved box waiting to be revived. I phoned Samsung who assured me that a message had been passed onto their engineering company. I asked when would they arrive, to restore Samsung to her true glory. Customer support said they did not know and could not find out (shock what is this) I have to go myself and ask. So I did, I phoned their subcontractor (yes Samsung outsource their repairs, so the love of my life is not to be fixed by Samsung themselves) and to my horror the service company said, your dear Samsung we might attend in 7day depending on work load. Here I said, dear Samsung is now only 6 days old, she was met the family for 20mins and she could be three weeks old before I can see her in her true glory. I was told that there was nothing they could do and on that sad note, beautiful as she is, Samsung was returned to the company she was purchased from. We have separated to be no more. Sad as I loved her so. ------------ I would have taken the set back the same day and definitely not settled for a 'repaired' set.
Just a note to anyone else who may be reading this and in a similar situation. The way the law stands right now as far as I understand, if you buy an electrical item and it is faulty within the first two weeks you can take it back to the shop you purchased it from and ask for a full refund.
If I wanted to buy a 'reconditioned' model I would expect to pay much less than the price for a new TV. :D
I completely understand you taking it back JTed. ------------ Sorry to hear about your problem. But I agree with Azz, you should have returned the TV immediately to the place where you bought it and exchanged it for another. In my experence the issue of warranty and customer service is only an option when you have used the item for over a month, otherwise take it back!
