Hey guys,

Right, i have a major issue. I have busted my brains trying to work out how to go about this, but no luck. seeing as how helpful u guys are, ill explain the issue and see what happens!
http://www.hongblog.net

Ok, I used to have an N72 phone. and All my SMSs were saved on the memory card. (1010 Messages).

I got an N95 about a week ago, and cuz i got it from O2, UK, it doesnt come with a memory card, so i bought a MicroSD Scandisk 1GB MC.

The MC for the N72 is not a MicroSD, it that slightly larger MC size. So i bought a memory card reader, put in the N72 memory card, copied the folder E:/System/Mail .. to my PC.
Then i formatted the MicroSD on my N95 phone, took it out, popped it into the memory card reader .. went to E:/Private/10048b(or something like that)/Mail2 ... then what i did was the Mail folder from my old Memory card which i copied onto my PC , i renamed it to Mail2, then copied and pasted it instead of the existing empty 'Mail2' folder.

When i put the MicroSD back into the phone and restart the phone, i see all my messages fine. but then, if i turn off the phone and turn it back on again, everything just slows down or the phone just freezes all together. I tried taking out the memory card .. putting it back in again but its exactly the same.

Funny thing is, without the memory card in there, the phone works perfectly. So i thought it was something to do with the memory card, but when i put it back into the reader, i cleared the Mail2 folder, put the MC back into the phone, and it works fine!

So that means there's a glitch between the start-up system files of the N95 and one of the files in the Mail folder from the old memory card, which i copied into the Mail2 folder of the MicroSD.

Does anyone have suggestions on what this could be or if there's a way round it??

im not too keen to have 1010 SMS messages just sittin on my pc. i would really like them back on my phone! ------------------ No luck so far?! ------------------ Hey mate, i suggest you just screen through the messages and delete them. you can also try using PC suite to sort that out.

...or you can try it on another phone and see if u have the same prob.

i think the files from your N72 are not very compatible with the N95 because the two have very different operating systems
Good luck ------------------ May be you have more files on there than you think and if any of them are multimedia messages with pic/sounds and stuff attached they are larger than just the text ones and the phone is having trouble reading them all, before start up of the phone......eg same as if a pc does not have enough RAM it will take ages to start the pc.

1010 texts i think the number of text's you are trying to put on there is you problem, i only let mine get to about 50 then i deleate them..

Hope this helps......

Gaz ------------------ Coolio, so it most probably is a problem with the amount of texts on there? But i wouldnt have he same problem if i received 1000 text messages on the N95, it wouldnt slow down. So its just the fact that they are a huge amount of messages which are being imported?
