mp3 players car/ Currently have Vista media center working with Hauppauge NOVA-T-500 card. My freeview signal is not great and i'm considering upgrading my aerial.
question is: do i save my money and hold off for Freesat or possible HD over freeview. .
1) any information on using freesat with mediacenter. Will i just have to get an analogue tuner as with sky. Or will there be dedicated digital tuners available?
2) Will HD freeview need a brand new aerial?
thoughts? ------------ For Freesat you will require a Satellite card like this http://shop.blackgold.tv/product/3540.html and a dish to plug it into, what ever else you do i.e. HD Freeview in the future you will require a better aerial, I would suggest upgrade your aerial for now until the dust settles on Freesat and it's inter working with a media centre especially as HD (Sat) does not work within Windows Media centre currently. ------------ thanks for the advise. Why does MC not support HD? Is due to MPEG 2 being used rather than MPEG 4? ------------ It is down to H264. See this string and read the last pages http://www.avforums.com/forums/showt...ight=blackgold
I have this card and played around with getting Sat to work with other programs, but in reality without MCE full support like you get with Freeview it makes for a very poor system. Sat SD and MCE is OK. ------------ cheers - yeah interesting article here about MS support for HD
http://msmvps.com/blogs/chrisl/archi...7/1577551.aspx ------------ I'm tempted to go down the DVB-S/S2 Freesat route, although I know it will be painful!
There are various ways of forcing Media Center to play H.264 material apparently, but that's not the same as being able to view live HD broadcasts.
