nokia n95 problemsN95/nokia/ I have just installed the latest firmware on my N95 everything seems fine but but I am unable to access any application on my memory card .
I can see all icons but clicking on them nothing happens !!
Any idea ? I took a full backup but if I will restore it will it not affect all additional icons (applications) added with this new firmware ?
Is there any alternative way beside maybe to install them again ?
Thanks Mony . ------------ Your best bet is to just reinstall everything. When you restore after the update the concensus is to just restore the contacts. You 'MAY' be able to get away with other things but your best bet is just reinstall and only restore contacts. You can go to app manager and it may give you a list of apps on your card and should say not installed at which time you can click to install each one individually. Did that with some of the progreams on mine but the rest I just reinstalled ------------ oh and take note that any applications on the memory card WILL need to be reinstalled. for some reason the applications break after the firmware upgrade ------------ Thanks in the App. manager folder I can see all applications marked installed but as I said no access so i guess i need to remove it an reinstall. ------------ yes they do seem to 'break' however on mine it seems that some of the programs keep the install file on the card with it and app manager sees these and let's you reinstall them from inside app manager.
Just a tip that maybe could make it to the tips section.
What I do is:
When downloading and installing applications and/or themes for my phone I have a folder labeled phone. Inside this I have my signing application and seperate folders for each installed file and or zip for it. Each folder is labeled with the apps name which is useful because some install files are randomly named. I have one main folder for themes as well. This really saved time and effort after updating the firmware and then reinstalling all the themes and applications.
I also made a direct copy of the Images, Videos, and Sounds folder before updating the FW and just did a direct copy back to the card when done. Seemed to make it easy to get all my stuff back on there that I wanted. ------------ Yep, unfortunately there's no way to gain the access you would need to restore those applications and their functionality again on their own
Hopefully, reinstalling over the old applications will revive most of them, though you may have trouble if you end up having to remove them. Easiest and quickest way is to reformat your memory card or see the link in my sig if you want to do it manually ------------ Two problems after the firmware upgrade :
1. I cant find any music video in the folder "My video" , I can access the files by "Realplayer" , any Idea how can I add the files to this folder ?
2. Before upgrading the firmware I took a full ackup (including the memory card more than 2GB) , when trying to restore it I get a message no enough space so I only got the other parts of the backup , strange as I have 3,7GB free space
Thanks Mony
