Time frame for me would be starting pretty much now to about October-ish. Im really hoping this will end up being a DX10 upgrade, but I can settle for just getting the physical components for it [DX10] and upgrading to Vista's later on (Christmas time approx). .
.
/Suggest away ------------ You cant run dx10 unless you run Vista.....Xp does not support it,
unless theres been some change as of late, which I doubt.
If your current mobo will support Vista, and you get a dx10 video
card your set for dx10. ------------

Oh no I wasn't trying to do that, just wandering if I can use some cards that will run DX10 as well as DX9, all with my 775 DX9 motherboard WITH XP until I want to switch to DX10. Then I'd swap the mobo, upgrade to Vista's, and plug everything in (not necessarily in that order). ------------ I see an aweful lot of gamers which are flocking back to XP to resolve stability issues as well as get clear of numourous hardware quirks >>>> so I would factor that in with your quest for DX10
I personally would sell off your current system and build again
about two years and your off the curve >>>>> three years and youre then lagging
your ram sticks can be faster, your motherboard can be faster , your cpu, your video card you see where I am coming from
and when I say there are faster, I am not talking about just the brand new shiny high dollar stuff
you can get a hellva gaming box for about $2,000
more than that and its a waste IMHO ------------ xp pro can support dx10 (ASAIK) ------------
