My parents have just ordered two new R74s from Selfridges, models LE32R74BD and LE40R74BD. The R74 is currently the flagship LCD range from Samsung, launched April 2006.

The models do appear to be similar, but the R74 has:

* 5000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
* Glossy piano-black finish
* Colour Gamut 100%
* Game Mode
* A few more port connections including RS232 for software update (engineer)
* Swivel Stand
* Multi-mode PIP
* "improved speakers" (apparently)
