Anyone had any experience of Apple repair times on products?

I've had Apple laptops/desktops for about 4 years now and none of them have every had a fault. However, recently when I went to upgrade the ram in my MBP the top memory slot broke when it ejected the ram.
.

So, I dropped it off in the Milton Keynes store last week and was told it would be away for 5-7 days. Well today is 7 days and I spoke to Apple and was told its still being repaired and no ETA for it being returned??

I have extended Applecare so surely it should be quicker than this. My wife's Dell laptop broke last year and she had an engineer at our house the next day.......

DAM!!!!

Just got through to Applecare to be told me laptop which had a single faulty dimm slot, now had 5 problems and won? accept any power!!! So they are waiting for another part but have no ETA for this!! He said they only looked at it yesterday, so they had it for 6 days without doing anything with it!! What a freaking joke!!!

This is my first bad experience with Apple and I must say I ain? happy!

I'm surprised you could just drop it off. The system at my local store is - take it in for exam then take it home - they order in the part - they call you to book in the Mac - they take it in and repair - they call to pickup. For me this has taken several weeks in two different repairs.

I'm sure the 6 day wait was for the part to be delivered. Do you have Procare? Anyone with Procare goes to the head of the line (save other Procare members) so it could be they are short staffed or have others have higher priority.

I took in a Mac mini that was totally dead. They tested the PSU and found it to be ok then said it must be the main board and it would be 2 weeks. After two weeks I rang and was told it was ready for collection so I went to get it and was told that it wasnt ready and that the main board had been replaced but it was actually the power button! and that this was part of the entire chassis and it would be another 2 weeks. I collected after this time and they hadnt set the serial number in the eeprom so it had to go back again. They set it whilst I waited though. This is in contrast to when I returned TWO macbooks at the same time for faulty cases, both were back in 3 days!

Rang up again today and still no ETA on the part so its going to be next week by the look of it!!! GRRR

When they ordered in a screen for my iMac it took over a month.

Got the laptop back today and thought all was fine.

Got it home and noticed the front of the case isn't seating right so it pops when you rest of the wrist area, and also the USB port next to the magsafe doesn't work!

MUPPETS!!!! I'm going to go back tomorrow and give them such a ........... What a freakin joke this is!!
