build car mp3 own player/
Hi,

I purchased the new Panny 32" TXLZD85 from a Panasonic shop on Saturday 19th April after seeing it's awesome 1080p performance with Cars (using the BD-30 player) and it's very good Freeview performance.
.

Having got the set home, everything looked great until nighttime, and a play with some of the old favourite DVD's. The TV had a 3 bright "spots" (hemispheres, about 10 cm long and 3 cm high) on the edge of the display. This looked like a fault with the cathode ray backlighting.

I took the unit back to the shop and they agreed that the set was faulty and replaced it with a second new unit. Unfortunately, this set also suffers from a similar problem, but also has a huge bright area covering approximately 20 cm by 15 cm in the lh corner of the screen.

Is this a common problem with Viera sets or have I been unlucky?

I plan to ask Panasonic for a third replacement, but wondered if it could just be a faulty batch or something tweakable by a service engineer.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Rich

There is no fix unfortunately many lcd's have this but at this point panasonic seem the most sets affected by this.I can only wish you good luck with the 3rd

Cheers for the reply. Do you think there's any point getting a 3rd unit, then?

Does it make any difference with the size of the set? Are 32" LCD more affected than 37/40" ?

It's such a shame, as the picture quality (including smoothness and DVD upscaling) is brilliant. I can't think of any other manufacturer that has the same spec for a 32" unit.

No size is not affected.I would say that as you like the tv get a 3rd replacement

Okay, thanks.

Panasonic are going to test a couple more units for me at the shop and then bring it out to my house on Friday. Top service.

Please tell us if everything's ok when you'll get your 3rd Panny at home.
I'm very interested in this model and every opinion is welcome.
Thanks.

Hi,

3rd is just as bad , with 3 out of 4 quarters quite badly affected.

Panasonic sheffield won't give me a refund and asked if id pay to upgrade to a 42" plasma! I've already paid more than double what a 32 HD ready Samsung would cost, and expect the best, with no backlighting problems

If you don't watch DVD's or blue ray (just freeview), then the LZD85 is fine. IF you do, choose another make...

Shame shame shame... cause the processing and 1080p is awesome, but Pansonic better sort out quality issues

Regards

Panasonic WILL give you a refund, its your right.
you bought goods, which were faulty, got it replaced again, and again...all within the space of what..a week or so.!!
it would appear that these are faulty, and as such you shouldnt have to put up with it.

Key Facts:

• Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).
