windows xp startup/ I downloaded Glary utilities awhile back and one of the features it came with was "Disk Analyzer". I was "analyzing" my computer to see what my larger files were so i could delete and free up space on my pc. I came across a limewire file that was taking up space so i clicked it and then tried to delete it. As soon as i hit the delete button a small box appeared with nothing in it but what appeared to be a blank button, not paying attention i clicked it and then all of a sudden my computer shut off. . . when i tried to restart my computer the following message was on my screen: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Systems32\DRIVERS\pci.sys you can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Settup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair" I then shut off my computer and restarted it again to try and perform the recovery feature by pressing F10 but it did not work and the message came up again. I do not have the original Cd's that came with my pc. Can someone please help me out. My computer is a 2003 Hp pavilion 515n. tried google and came across microsoft support "how to" advice but the instructions were to remove all PCI devices? and then reboot. Have no clue what's what. I need some expert advice, plz help a noob out. ------------ Hello and welcome to the forum pci devices are cards that are plugged into the motherboard. You can open the case, and remove any cards ( except the video card ) and reboot to see if the same error is there. Be sure to pull the power cord prior to opening the case.
