samsung m500

Hi there

I am hoping that clever chaps can help me with a few question about my TV.

I have had it a couple of months now and there are a few things that would make me happier.
.

.

1. Can you get sky controller to switch sources? If you acidently press channel up on sky remote whilst in TV mode the channel goes up to Ext1. You can't then get it back without getting thee samsung remote out the cupboard. Old TV with scart used to switch to sky when you pressed the SKY button. I'g guessing that this is because I now use the HDMI lead.

2. When the light levels of a tv scene are low the tv seems to flicker slightly is there a cure? I have tweeked up the brighness but some scenes should be dark, I just dont want the flickering if possible.

3. What is the DNie for and how do you turn it on. I can show the difference in demo but how do you permanently turn it on?

4. When I got the TV it had already been set up once so I can't access the ititial set up. Is ther a way to do this (might sort my flickering)?

5. In menu mode the forth icon down is a satalite dish but it's greyed out. What is it for and how do I access it?

That's it for starters. Other than all the above I love the TV and have it linked to the HT Q100 Home cinema system. It all sounds awesome!!!

Thanks for your anticipated help!!

Hi Spraty

1) I think you can, I'm not that up on sky, but I thought it had a TV button for when you want to use the tv?

2) I've not heard of flicker on an lcd before. Try watching a demo unit at currys/comet and see if their set has the same prob?

3) DNie is always on - its only the demo you can turn on/off

4) not sure whether it would sort it out, but your manual should tell you how to reach initial set-up again

5) Sounds like the Digital TV option, can you get freeview in your area? (should say in your manual tho)

Again sadly I've tried some of your suggestions.

1. The sky controller in TV mode only supports basic functions ie channel up down or volume up down.

2. I've not seen a flicker before either. Not seen it happen at Currys either. Doesnt happen on DVD input so it would point to SKY however I used to have normal SKY and was so dissapointed at the picture quality through my new ?500 tv that I went for SKY HD. Picture now is awesome but still get flicker!

3. Thanks

4. Thanks

5. Thanks!

Thanks and great website! Nice to share probs!

Spraty999,

Answer to your question No. 2:
This is the oft talked about and highly debated 'issue' concerning the Dynamic Dimming feature for the Samsung R7 LCD series. This can be turned off via the Service Engineer Menu. The following link shows you how: Dynamic Dimming (http://www.ilovesamsung.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1118&postcount=2)

Answer to your question No. 4:
To reset the television to factory defaults -
1. Press the D.MENU button to display the DTV menu.
2. Press the up-arrow or down-arrow button to select "System", then press the button.
