diy car mp3 player/ Okay, I have an HD drive in my HTPC at the moment and I? pretty much set on bagging lots of ? disks from HMV etc.
I?l get a PS3 one day, and that?l serve that end of the spectrum, but when I get a new computer it?l be nice to have the all in one and not have two separate drives. .
I know there? the LG double reader, but will all future Blue-Ray disk drives ALSO come with HDDVD support?
Thinking that the original CD writers ( and - variants) have been combined neatly, I? hoping to get a positive response...
Thanks for any replies, Brett. ------------ I just bought the lg hl20 for ?6 from ebuyer hddvd/bluray' and i doubt very much if future drives will support hddvd as the latest version of powerdvd is bluray only, the lg supplied software is the previous version which is i am not sure about at the moment' it plays back superbly but i only have 1 hddvd hendrix at monterey and i cannot turn off the subtitles , it is a USA imported disc which i got as a freebie so i will buy a couple more and a bluray disc and see what happens.
I would buy one now while you can as they won't be around for much longer? IMHO, ohh and the sound quality is excellent if you have a creative audigy or Xfi card it plays the truhd or dts master by default and you can see the bit rate,
on the hendrix disc around 3000kps i only have stereo but you can here the difference.
hope this helps ------------ Yikes, not the answer I was looking for!!!
Can't believe PowerDVD is BlueRay only
So if you upgrade the software you lose HDDVD support!!?? Sounds weird to me
Thanks for the reply. ------------ didnt know that either! ive only got Blu-Rays anyway (got the H20L as it was cheapist blu burner at the time)
well that sucks was going to pick up midnigh run on HD DVD what a classic! ------------
------------ You can also modify Powerdvd 8 so it plays HDDVDs ------------ powerdvd 8 has already been hacked ,we can play hddvds on it now....just search this forum for the info...sorry i dont have it at hand ------------ Thanks again for the continued replies..........
Not so worried about future software support, it's the hardware.
My paranoia is that I won't be able to get hold of a replacement drive in say 6 years time if i need to.
Not shelling out for a backup now. Just thought it would have been easy to just incorporate HDDVD support in all future blueray drives.
Maybe I won't bother with those extra disks....
