Anyone used their N95 as a data modem in SE Asia?

Hi,

Later this year I'm going to spend some time travelling round SE Asia, starting in Thailand. I'll have to do a couple of hours' work for my company every couple of days though and for that I need to be on the Internet. I'll have an Asus EEE PC so in a big city like Bangkok I'll be fine - just find a wireless hotspot somewhere - but out in the countryside or on some of the islands there it might be a problem finding wireless. So I was hoping to get one of those data cards from AIS (I think?) which gives me 3GB data usage via 3G and/or Edge - I'm not too clear about this and will read up a bit more about it. Hopefully I'll use my N95 as a data modem and connect it to my EEE PC via Bluetooth or USB, and work from the EEE PC.

But my job requires me to open a 50-100kb PDF file in my web browser, maybe once or twice a minute, so a fast speed would be best.

Anyway does anyone have any experience of doing something similar? Is it even possible - are those countries' telecoms infrastructures not good enough (yet)? Any tips?

Many thanks
