i read a copy of the Universal press release over on blueray forum
Universal's international Blu-ray slate will consist of 29 titles this year, including the five big theatricals as well as such catalog titles as "The Mummy," "Gladiator," "American Gangster," "Miami Vice," "Casino" and "The Thing."

------------ Gladiator was announced (along with Casino and The Thing) but as International releases only. None of these 3 titles were mentioned for the US.

------------ Gladiator was released in theatres and on DVD by DreamWorks in the US. As such, this statement seems realistic as Universal only own the international, non-US distribution rights to the film.
