Not sure about that exact phone. . . But with most of the newer phones, the imei is written on a OTP (One Time Programable) section of the eprom, which means that it cannot be re-written. This certainly applies to the later nokia phones. It was introduced to stop people from giving a new identity to stolen phones (which is illegal in most countries.
