My 10 month old Samsung LE32R74BDX seems to be incompatable with Sky Plus. When viewing recorded programms the TV will flash to a black screen for a fraction of a second and then back again, it will repeat this "flashing" for half a dozen times before settling down. The "Flashing" then occurs again during the same recording, during Strictly Come Dancing it occurs consistently when certain scenes are being displayed (such as when the dancers are standing in front of the red curtain).

i have not found many occurances of this fault on the internet, but someone has mentioned it on the following site (scroll to December 5th 2006):

Samsung have taken my TV away and tested it but returned it without doing anything useful, other than a factory reset. the problem is still there and driving me nuts.
the Sky Plus box is not soley to blame as my other LCD (Acoustic Solutions) does not have the problem at all.
The Sky Plus box can be plugged into either Ext1 or Ext2 without fixing the problem. incidently in Ext2, the screen flashes from Black and white and back instead of just black (ext1). My DVD player is fine and does not display the problem when plugged into either scart socket.

I hope there are other people in this community who have experienced this problem and know how to fix it. i believe it may not be a faulty TV, or a faulty Sky box, but an incompatabilty between the two and a simple software update/configuration will fix it.

I've not heard this before Robbie... if you find a solution please let us know. In the meantime I would also keep pressing Samsung for a solution perhaps..

I have the exact same problem, and have noticed it is only when there
is a great deal of deep red in the background or at times anywhere on
the screen.

When strictly come dancing is on, it is mainly when they are focused
on Craig, the background behind him is deep red,

and we also watch "did they pay off their mortgage", when they put up
the tables of how much they have saved etc, the background is deep red,
so off the telly goes again, blink blink blink,

So deep red is the problem, the TV doesn't appear to be able to cope
with too much of it.

Glad you raised the question, as it has also been doing my nut in.

To confirm, same TV, same problem when playing back from SKY .

Also happened last night, when a mass of light blue was on the screen,

starting to get annoying now,

only happens when replaying SKY ,

when watching the progammes live, it is fine.

Yeah, it happens occassionaly on recording from most channels, but regulary on BBC Channels.
Also it has done it for me when i have pressed the red button to access BBCi.

it has never done it on my Panasonic CRT or Acoustic Solutions LCD. ever.

YaHoooooooooooooo! :)

I am not mad after all. I have recently bought a Samsung 40in LCD TV Model No. LE40R74BDX1XEU and have had the same problems with the screen flashing when predominently red. I have noticed this especially when watching pre-recorded programmes such as How to pay off your mortgage and my wife when watching Skating on Ice. Also, when using bbci text (live not recorded) through Sky the multiscreen flashes. This doesn't happen when viewing bbci through normal channels. I was fortunate enough to still have my old Toshiba Nicam Stereo Surround TV (CRT tube) and there was no problems when viewing through this tv. To add more confusion viewing the recorded programmes via RF2 output from my sky box using a LCD in the kitchen there are no problems.
